FOOTBALL: Plucky Pinchbeck punished

Have your say

Pinchbeck Utd 2 ICA 4: Pinchbeck put in a plucky performance and can count themselves a shade unlucky not to take more from this Peterborough League Premier Division game.

ICA settled the quicker but never really threatened the Pinchbeck goal and the only attempt on target was from range, keeper Dickinson tipping it on to the post.

Whitaker put Pinchbeck ahead in the first half and they should have been 2-0 up when Lovelace was found in space with only the goalie to beat but tamely slipped it past the post.

Pinchbeck were playing a pressing game and frustrating the opposition and went in at half-time deserved leaders.

ICA equalised early in the second half and went 2-1 ahead when Liam Harrison turned the ball into his own goal.

But Pinchbeck got back into the game right away with Harrison making up for the error with a superb delivery for Gosling to head home.

Pinchbeck continuted to press hard and ICA made three substitutions and this was ultimately to change the game.

They went 3-2 up from the penalty spot after a Dickinson foul, Harrold rolling in the spot kick.

That was a tad harsh on Pinchbeck but worse was to come as a long clearance saw an ICA forward cut inside unchallenged and slip it past Dickinson for a fourth.

Pinchbeck: Dickinson, Cole, Relf, Harrison, Lovelace N, Whitaker, Moore (Harper), Gardner, Lovelace M, Gosling.Subs not used: West, Scupham, Beale.
