Pinchbeck United shot themselves in the foot with a dismal second half display in their 1-1 home draw with lowly Whittlesey Blue Star.
They went 1-0 up when Jack Smith waltzed through the Blue Star defence before calmly slotting home. But the home side were guilty of some poor misses as the returning Gedney fired over when well placed. Blue Star attacks were limited to break aways but on one such occasion they should have done better as Pinchbeck’s defence went AWOL. Pinchbeck started badly after the break and it was no surprise when a ball down the middle saw the defence split wide open and the visitors equalised. Late on the livewire Smith had a couple of good chances for United and Gardner went close but Blue Star could have snatched it when another defensive mix up allowed them clean through on Dawson but the forward slipped his effort wide. Pinchbeck: Dawson, Elderkin, Dickinson, Harrison, Chilvers, Gedney (Wheeler 65), Butler, Haslam, Gardner, Smith, Moore. Subs (not used): Harrison, Boekestyn.
Fourth-placed Moulton Harrox’s brilliant winning run finally came to an end when they were held 1-1 at home to Uppingham Town. Bobby Patterson notched for Harrox with his sixth goal of the campaign.
Crowland Town suffered a surprise 4-1 home reverse to Oakham United, Luke Elsom scoring the home side’s goal.
