FOOTBALL: One in, one out at Tulips

Have your say

Cogenhoe Utd v Spalding Utd (Saturday 3pm): THE Tulips will travel without left-back Callum Earls who has quit the club.

It comes after he was dropped for the trip to Desborough Town on March 3.

Tulips boss Pat Rayment is sorry to see him go, but added: “I’d rather spend my time with players who perhaps don’t have so much potential and ability but show the required enthusiasm and desire.”

Earls made his intention clear before the 1-1 draw with Boston Town last weekend.

Meanwhile, the signing of right-back/midfielder Liam Bull was completed on Saturday but personal commitments mean it’s still unclear if he will figure at Cogenhoe.

And Ricky Miller’s red card against the Poachers leaves Rayment with a headache for the March 31 home fixture with title-chasing Long Buckby.

With Greg Smith and Tom James also serving suspensions, it means he’s potentially without any recognised striker.

Rayment said: “I’ll be in the market for someone.”
