Daventry Utd 4 Deeping Rangers 1: DEEPING endured a Saturday to forget as United completed an unlikely UCL Premier Division double.

Matt Heron’s 28th minutes strike cancelled out a Ben Foster opener at Daventry, but goals either side of half time from Jon Crockett and Ricky proved to be Deeping’s downfall. Will Briscoe wrapped up the win for the Motormen, leaving Rangers a disappointing 14th in the table.

The 77 goals conceded by Tuncay Korkmaz’s side is the same amount as 19th-placed Holbeach United, with only Raunds Town and Rothwell Corinthians having a worse record.

And the Turkish tactician offered no case for his defence.

Korkmaz said: “Only the bottom two teams in the division have a worse defensive record than ourselves, so it doesn’t take a genius to work out what has been our problem. We want to make progress and take this club forward again, but we have to start at the back to do that.”

Rangers: Crockett, Gilbert, Smitheringale (Norman), Jones, Thomas, Heron, Hughes (Wood), Stevenson, M Jones, Hands, French.

Goals: Daventry - Foster 15, Crockett 30, Hill 46, Briscoe 80. Deeping - Heron 28.

Sat- Deeping v Desboro’ (3pm).

BOURNE TOWN 2 (Nelson 38, Munton 90)

HARBOROUGH TOWN 1 (Wilson pen 10)

VETERAN player/boss Darren Munton rolled back the years to hit a last-minute winner for the Wakes on Saturday.

Harborough had taken a 10th-minute lead through Andy Wilson’s penalty in the UCL Division One clash. But Richard Nelson levelled before Munton’s late heroics.

Wakes: Jarman, Jesson, Cardall, Nelson, Hood, Smith, Mason, Currall, Brockbank (Firth), Gray (Munton), Lambie (Rook).

• Tonight – Eynesbury v Wakes (7.45pm); Sat – Thrapston Tn v Wakes (3pm).
