FOOTBALL: King strike keeps Tulips in the hunt

Have your say

Gary King struck a late winner as Spalding United picked up a crucial 2-1 victory at Quorn in the UCL Premier Division on Tuesday night.

The Tulips fell behind in the first half against their fourth-placed hosts, but hauled themselves level before the break thanks to another goal from the in-form Dan Cotton.

That’s how it stayed until the final minutes, when striker King netted to keep Spalding in the hunt for the title – and promotion.

The win moves Pat Rayment’s side within 14 points of leaders Holbeach United with three games in hand.

In the Peterborough and District League, Moulton Harrox thrashed Crowland Town 6-2 move within nine points of the top.

But Pinchbeck United went down 3-1 at Ramsey Town and stay in the bottom four.
