TWO dreadful errors from keeper Jamie Brassington sentenced Spalding United to a 2-1 home loss at the hands of Goole on Saturday.
The Tulips stopper allowed Simon Harrison’s 22nd minute corner to sail straight into his net as Spalding went in 1-0 down at the break.
Brassington then bottled a tackle with Harrison on the hour, allowing the Goole wideman an easy second.
Garath Pritchard did pull one back from the penalty spot with five minutes left, but the Tulips couldn’t muster an equaliser.
And with Market Drayton beating Sheffield FC 3-1, Richard Scott’s side slide back into the Evo-Stik League First Division South drop zone.
In the UCL Premier Division, Holbeach United secured a handy point at Northampton Spencer.
Lee Orrey’s strike earned John Chand’s Tigers a 1-1 draw at a tricky venue - and moved Holbeach three points clear of the relegation zone.
There wasn’t such good news for Deeping Rangers though, as they slumped to a 3-1 defeat at Irchester United.
Michael Stevenson did make it 2-1 at one stage, but Tuncay Korkmaz’s charges couldn’t stage a fightback.
Down in Division One, Bourne Town could only draw 1-1 at lowly Rushden and Higham.
Meanwhile, Pinchbeck United stay top of the Peterborough and District Premier Division after a 2-1 success over basement side Stamford Bels.
Andrew Law and Mark Lovelace hit the goals for the table toppers.
Their fierce rivals Moulton Harrox were also in winning form.
They dispatched Ancaster Rovers 3-0 in the Lincs Junior Cup thanks to an own goal and strikes from Steve Sinfield and Josh Ford.
