UPPINGHAM TOWN 2 MOULTON HARROX 3: MOULTON’S impressive start to the Peterborough and District Premier Division season continued with a second successive away victory.
Harrox controlled the early play at Uppingham and Ben Allen’s driven cross was diverted into his own net by a defender.
The home side soon levelled, but two second half Jamie Cartlidge goals gave Harrox some breathing space. The hosts scored with the last kick of the match.
Moulton’s next fixture is at Leverington on Wednesday night.
CROWLAND TOWN 0
MOULTON HARROX 1
A last-gasp Danny Cairns free kick was enough to secure three points for Harrox in their first league game of the season last Wednesday.
In a scrappy first half littered with minor fouls not many chances were created.
Crowland settled the quicker but the only effort young keeper Stuart England had to deal with was a crisp drive at the near post by Chris Challis.
Crowland’s defence was well martialled by the impressive Chris Thomas and keeper Ben Jex was pretty much a spectator as the Moulton boys failed to create anything in front of goal.
The second half saw a marked improvement in performance with Joe Harrison missing a golden opportunity midway through the second half by clipping his shot just past the post with Jex beaten.
Harrox’s fitness was starting to tell. Townsend, Hudson and Cartlidge livened up the Harrox front line but still could not find the net. Cartlidge put wide after a mix up in the Crowland back line.
Hudson was fouled on the edge of the box after a neat touch in the last minute and Jex was beaten by Cairns with a great free kick.
Moulton just about deserved the win for the last 20 minutes they put in, but will need a marked improvement on performance to keep winning.
l Man of the match for Harrox: Ashley Coddington who gave little away at the back.
