WISBECH ST MARY 3 PINCHBECK UNITED 3: TONI Pascu opened his Pinchbeck account in this pulsating pre-season clash on Tuesday night.

The Peterborough Premier Division side raced into a 3-1 lead in the thrilling friendly, thanks to a brace from player/boss Ian Dunn and a blockbuster 25-yard free kick from Romanian recruit Pascu.

But Wisbech battled back to leave the spoils shared – and Dunn, who was forced off with a dead leg, slightly downbeat.

He said: “A couple of silly errors cost us really, we were coasting at 3-1. We had a couple of injuries and tried a few new things, some worked, some didn’t.

“There a plenty of positives though. I thought we looked really good going forward and looked dangerous every time we attacked, while the defence was very solid for the first 44 minutes.

“Toni’s goal was a cracker, he looks like a really good signing.”

As well as Dunn’s knock, Johnny Clay also picked up an injury at Wisbech. With that in mind, tonight’s scheduled clash at Lincoln United Reserves has been called off.

Pinchbeck are back in action at UCL Premier Division side Sleaford Town on Saturday (3pm).

Dunn reckons the clash with one of his former clubs will be a real test of United’s mettle.
