Free-scoring Deeping Rangers romped to a 9-1 win over Wellingborough Whitworth in the UCL Knockout Cup on Tuesday night.
Hitman Josh Moreman led the charge with a hat-trick at Outgang Road, with Ryan Oliver (2), Matt Heron (2), David Burton-Jones and a Ben Biven own goal completing the rout.
It was always likely to be a one-sided affair, with UCL Premier Division high-fliers Deeping welcoming a Whitworth side that sit 19th in UCL Division One.
Oliver got the ball rolling on ten minutes, with fellow striker Moreman doubling the lead three minutes later. Another Oliver strike (32) and a stunning Burton-Jones effort (37) then put Tuncay Korkmaz’s side 4-0 ahead at the break.
It took just 60 seconds of the second period for Heron to get in on the act, but Matt Hibberd (51) did pull a consolation goal back for the Flourmen soon after.
That failed to slow down rampant Rangers though, with Moreman completing his treble thanks to goals on 64 and 84 minutes. Bivens then put through his own net two minutes from time, before an injury time Heron penalty completed the scoring.
