HOLBEACH United’s four-game winning streak came to an end on Tuesday night as UCL Premier Division leaders St Neots Town handed them a 4-2 reverse, while Spalding United are now 15 points from Evo-Stik League First Division South safety.
The Tigers put up a good fight against the free-scoring Saints, but fell behind on 42 minutes when Jan Jacob struck.
Ex-Aston Villa striker Stefan Moore then put the game to bed with a double (61 & 73), before Shaun Keeble (75) pulled one back for John Chand’s side.
There was still time for Jacob (85) to grab his second for St Neots, while Cameron Mawer netted a last-gasp consolation for the Tigers.
In UCL Division One, Bourne Town were also handed a defeat. Goals from Leigh Chapman (21) and Wayne Brown (79) secured Burton Park Wanderers a 2-0 Abbey Lawn success.
Meanwhile, Rainworth Miners Welfare’s 3-1 victory over Rushall Olympic all but confirmed the Tulips’ relegation.
Andy Stanhope’s side have seven games left to launch the most unlikely of escapes.
