Both Spalding United and Deeping Rangers picked up impressive UCL Premier Division derby wins on Tuesday, while rivals Moulton Harrox and Pinchbeck United drew at Broad Lane.

Starting at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field, goals from Andrew Tidswell (7 and 74) and Lee Beeson (pen 90) helped Spalding sink plucky Sleaford Town 3-0.

Tidswell slotted the Tulips ahead early on when he latched onto a threaded Chris Hall pass and fired calmly home from close range.

The expected goal rush didn’t follow though, with rock-bottom Sleaford more than holding their own for the next hour or so. Stand-in skipper Jamie Stevens did rattle the post with a commanding header, but the visitors were far from hanging on.

Spalding eventually grabbed the second, with Hall again flicking a clever pass through for Tidswell to dink in from a slight angle.

And there was still time for substitute to win and slam home a clear penalty three minutes into added time, as Spalding made it four wins from four and went three points clear at the top of the table.

Deeping are now second, after they routed much-fancied Wisbech Town 4-1 at Outgang Road. Goals from Ryan Oliver (1), Mitch Griffiths (12), Matt Heron (30) and Ondre Odain (50) eased Rangers home, rendering Callum Reed’s late penalty as mere consolation.

In the Peterborough Premier League, Moulton Harrox and Pinchbeck United battled out a 2-2 draw, while Crowland Town drew 3-3 with Coates Athletic at Snowden Field.

In Division One, Holbeach United Reserves saw off ICA Sports Reserves 2-1 at Carter’s Park, while Long Sutton Athletic beat leaders AFC Stanground 3-2.
