AFC Kempston Rovers 0 Deeping Rangers 2 (Jones 6, 67): Only the woodwork denied Mark Jones a hat-trick as Rangers waltzed to their ninth win of the season.
The result gives Deeping the perfect platform to travel to high-flying King’s Lynn Town tonight (7.45pm).
Saturday’s win completed the double over the Walnut Boys.
Jones got his first goal after six minutes after the home defence failed to deal with a Josh Moreman cross.
And Jones’ second on 67 minutes sealed the three points.
Deeping: Doughty, Evans, Jackson, Tinkler, Fenton, Weston, Gilbert (Brader), Burton-Jones, Jones, Heron (Logan), Moreman.
• Rangers eased their way into the next round of the UCL Knockout Cup last Tuesday with a 4-1 win against Division One side Eynesbury Rovers.
Making his debut for Deeping was ex-Ebbsfleet forward Scott Ginty, and within a minute of the start he had got himself on the scoresheet.
He was on hand at the near post to convert a left wing cross from Kevin Brader. But it was short-lived joy for the young striker who had a niggling hamstring and had to be replaced by Mark Jones.
Rangers had added two more goals before half-time.
From a corner, Burton-Jones was on hand to poke home and then George Cox performed miracles on the by-line, preventing the ball going out, before crossing for Josh Moreman to make it 3-0.
Jones scored in the second half before a late consolation goal for Eynesbury.
Rangers now face another away tie in the next round against either Long Buckby or Olney Town.
Deeping: Doughty, Evans (Gilbert), Jackson, Tinkler, Fenton, Weston, Brader, Burton-Jones, Ginty (Jones), Cox, Moreman (Heron). Sub not used; Birtles.
