Injury-hit Spalding United squad ready for break after trip to Glossop North End
Spalding United are looking to bounce back in Saturday’s rearranged game.
The Tulips crashed out of the Buildbase FA Trophy with last weekend’s 5-1 defeat at Chasetown.
Matt Easton’s injury-hit squad conceded four times against 10 men after taking an early lead through Joel Brownhill’s penalty.
They return to action at Glossop North End who have only won once in nine games so far in the BetVictor Northern Premier League South East Division.
Easton said: “We got what we deserved last Saturday and we even struggled against 10 men.
“We had two substitutes and one of those got injured in the warm-up.
“Josh Spencer came off so we had no substitutes when Jenk Acar and Charlie Hart were also injured.
“The squad needs a break and fortunately the home game against Belper Town was called off on Tuesday.
“We didn’t work enough off the ball at Chasetown but the result wasn’t a surprise when you look around the squad.
“It was a shame for the club to go out of the competition but the players have been battling against the odds for weeks.
“Something like this was going to happen and I’ve got no complaints.
“We will regroup and hopefully this was a blip. If we get three points on Saturday, it will continue a good start to the league season.”
Jack Withers is set to make his debut after Spalding received international clearance following his spell at Swansea City.
The defender came through the youth ranks at Pinchbeck United.
