FOOTBALL: Holbeach United aim for hat-trick of away wins on road to Wembley

Holbeach United will take another break from league duty this weekend to chase Buildbase FA Vase glory.

They are back on the road to Wembley against third-round opposition from the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League.

The Tigers make the trip to Godmanchester Rovers who are currently second in the Premier Division table.

Holbeach are aiming for a hat-trick of away wins in the competition after knocking out Biggleswade United and Wodson Park.

Player-coach Adam Jackson said: "Godmanchester play a similar formation but this is cup football where form and quality goes out the window.

"You need guys who want to run through brick walls on the day.

"We would be happy even with a replay because it's not ideal for them coming here on a wet Wednesday night.

"We're looking forward to Saturday and it would be nice to keep the run going."

Jackson will complete a three-match ban following his red card in the league defeat at Wellingborough Town.

Danny Barker is ruled out through injury but Luke Avis and Jack Smith are back in the squad as work commitments meant that they missed the midweek win.

Billy Smith struck twice against Wellingborough at Carter's Park to book a home semi-final in the KitmanUK Knockout Cup.

Jackson admitted: "We had a few words at half-time, even though we started well.

"Wellingborough scored a great goal to make it 1-1 then it became a stalemate.

"We came out in the second half and did better with some good performances."
