FOOTBALL: ‘Starting all over again’ for Holbeach United boss

Danny Hussey is ready to restart Holbeach United’s campaign after a three-week break.

The Tigers have been out of action since the 2-0 win at Sleaford Town in the newly-appointed manager’s first away game.

Following postponements, the trip to Eynesbury Rovers has been rearranged for next Tuesday and the home date with Boston Town moved to February 27.

Holbeach head to ON Chenecks on Saturday with a full-strength squad.

Hussey said: “It has been quite a long period without a game when I had only been in the job for three matches.

“It feels like we are starting all over again due to a frozen pitch last weekend and the rain cloud over St Neots the previous Saturday.

“We know ON Chenecks play 4-4-2 and work really hard. Playing at their place is always a leveller.

“Like most teams in this league, you must out-work them and hope your quality comes through.”

Striker Jack Smith will be back in the Tigers’ squad on his return from a brief spell at Pinchbeck United.

He had left Holbeach due to work commitments.

Hussey added: “Bringing him back is a bonus as he gives us impetus up front.

“There will competition for places and, although I’d like to bring in another player, that’s not an option at the moment with our budget.

“As long as players give us plenty of notice for rearranged games in midweek, we accept they may not be available.

“Our training night on Wednesdays won’t change so everyone is aware of that.

“We’ll work hard once a week on shape and set-plays to prepare for games.”
