SLEAFORD TOWN 0 DEEPING RANGERS 2: Deeping took the derby spoils in the first of two meetings between the Lincolnshire rivals in seven days.
Chris Logan’s fierce free-kick and Alex Beck’s sixth goal in two games were enough on a shocker of a day at Sleaford’s Eslaforde Park, as Rangers stayed in touch with the UCL Premier Division’s top four.
Tuncay Korkmaz’s side are now some 12 points behind leaders St Ives, but are hot on the heels of rivals Holbeach United and Spalding United.
It took Deeping just four minutes to break the deadlock amid heavy rain in the first period, as defender Logan rifled a free kick past Andrew Hewitt from just outside the box.
Ex-Ranger Ryan Oliver and strike partner Liam Tunstall combined nicely for the hosts soon after, but James Doughty pulled off a smart double stop to deny the latter.
Deeping did have their chances to double the lead before the break, but both Beck and Harry Deane missed the target from moves that saw Matt Heron heavily involved.
The rain relented after the break and Deeping killed off their hosts on 52 minutes. Beck raced onto a Heron pass and rounded Hewitt before sliding home the clincher.
Deeping, who host Peterborough Northern Star tonight (7.45pm), welcome Sleaford to Outgang Road this Saturday (3pm).
