Spalding United end difficult week with win, away success for Holbeach United but defeat for Pinchbeck United

Spalding United put a turbulent week behind them with a brilliant 4-1 win at Worksop Town in the BetVictor Northern Premier South East Division today.

A hat-trick by Kevin Bastos and a Joel Brownhill penalty was the Tulips' reward for digging deep after the shock departure of former manager Matt Easton on Wednesday night.

The victory was spoiled slightly when Bastos was sent off for a challenge, although Worksop were also reduced to ten men in the last ten minutes of the game.

Acting Spalding manager Lewis Thorogood described the game as "probably one the best performances of the season".

In the uhlsport United Counties League (UCL) Premier Division, Holbeach United put their underwhelming home draw against Desborough Town last week behind them with a 2-1 win at Wellingborough Town.

Josh Ford and Liam Adams scored within eight minutes of each other to put the Tigers in a winning position, despite a late consolation goal for the Doughboys from Sean McBride.

Deeping Rangers' fared just as well in their first game since losing at home to Oadby Town two weeks ago, coming from 2-1 down to beat Rugby Town 3-2 at the Haydon Witham Stadium.

Tom Garrick scored a hat-trick for the Clarets who conceded twice through Rugbys attacking midfielder Ryan Seal, the first goal coming from the penalty spot after a Dan Flack foul.

Pinchbeck United lost their eighth straight league game today, going down 2-0 to Peterborough Northern Star at Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.

The Knights fell behind to a Liam Rodden header just past the half-hour mark and Craig Smith doubled the lead with an hour gone.

Disappointed Pinchbeck manager Ian Dunn, who came on for the last 25 minutes of the game, said: "We didn't take the chances that we created."

Finally, in UCL Division One, Bourne Town came from a goal down to draw 1-1 against Northampton Sileby Rangers at the JJ Mac Stadium.

A Seb Hood header from a Julian Joachim free kick brought the Wakes level with 16 minutes to go after Fazel Koriya gave Sileby a first half lead.
