Join Spalding United's Junior Tulips scheme for just £10

By Pete Woodhouse

Spalding United have launched their brand-new Junior Tulips scheme.

This will allow youngsters to show their support for the Sir Halley Stewart Field club better than ever before.

The scheme is designed to inspire a new generation of Spalding United fans, as the club looks to build on the positive end to the 2018/19 season in what will be manager Matt Easton’s first full season at the helm.

A Junior Tulip must be aged between five and 15 at the start of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One South-East campaign, which will start on Saturday, August 17.

Membership of the Junior Tulips is just £10.

Tulips chairman Andy Gay said of the first-ever rolling-out of the scheme: “We’re trying to get local young people to come to the club, and then they’ll drag their parents along with them.

“At the minute with most clubs in non-league football, supporters so to speak, they’re a dying breed. Every year we lose a couple because they’re in their 70s, 80s and 90s.

“You’ve got to try and encourage the children to get away from the TV or from the Xbox and try to give them a match day experience.

“Kids will love getting a Christmas card or a birthday card from a player.”

For the price of £10, the benefitsinclude:

l £1 admission for all league matches;

l A free matchday programme;

l Club birthday and Christmas cards signed by management and playing staff;

l Opportunities to become a club mascot in our monthly draw;

l Ten per cent discount on all club merchandise.
