Deeping Rangers have signed striker Cameron Johnson.

He will make his debut for the Clarets in Saturday's derby at Holbeach United.

Johnson scored 13 goals in 15 games for Boston Town at the end of last season.

Deeping boss Michael Goode said: "We talked to him during the summer as well.

"Now we're in the situation where Jason Kilbride is injured, Dan Schiavi is going to America soon and Carlton Beardmore won't be fit for five or six weeks.

"We want flexibility and Johnson fits into any formation.

"He's quick, he scores goals and he works hard. He's a young lad who fits our profile so hopefully he will be a success with us.

"He wants to come here and prove he can score goals for a team at the top end of the table. He likes the set-up and, even it becomes a stepping stone in his career, we're happy to have him."

Johnson and Danny Durkin - who scored twice on his debut for Deeping last weekend - could form a three-man strikeforce with Scott Mooney.

Goode added: "Mooney is looking very good at the moment.

"He is showing the quality which he had earlier in his career at Hyde United and he looks like a Step Three player."

Deeping have already beaten Holbeach this season - winning 3-2 in the Emirates FA Cup extra preliminary round tie at the Haydon Whitham Stadium thanks to goals from Mooney, Schiavi and Kilbride.

Goode said: "We need to compete with Holbeach by playing how we finished the cup replay at AFC Rushden & Diamonds on Tuesday night.

"We didn't want to lose but it was a tough game. We gave everything in game one and we did that in the replay as well.

"We showed discipline defensively and we know we will create more chances against a team in the same league - particularly as Johnson and Durkin are available to give us further options."
