FOOTBALL: Jackson seals return to Tigers

Nick Jackson has rejoined Holbeach United ahead of Saturday's derby date at Sleaford Town.

The former Tigers skipper will be back in the squad following spells at Wisbech Town and Pinchbeck United.

Manager Danny Hussey said: "The seven-day approach was waived by Ian Dunn so it was nice that we could work together on that.

"I also spoke to Darren Edey who worked with Nick at the start of last season at Wisbech. Due to the travelling commitments, it didn't work out for him so he went to Pinchbeck.

"Some of our lads were telling me that Nick was interested in coming back here and we're not just bringing him in to add to the squad numbers.

"He's a good signing who can play at centre-half or left-back which is important when I'm working with a small squad.

"It could allow Spencer Tinkler to move into midfield and we would also have more balance if Joe Braithwaite plays on the right-hand side."

Hussey was unhappy with last weekend's performance - despite Holbeach's 3-2 home win over Lincoln Moorlands Railway in the Buildbase FA Vase.

He added: "Over the next two or three weeks, we'll have a squad of 16 or 17 players with everyone fit apart from Michael Frew.

"At the moment, some of them are playing because others are injured. It gives me a greater chance to see them and I've been really disappointed in the performances."

Mikey Armstrong played 90 minutes for Holbeach last weekend after signing from Stamford.

Ryan Oliver and Jonno Fairweather came off the bench on their return from injury.

Luke Avis is back in the squad on Saturday but Tom Smith will be unavailable again. Tinkler completes a three-match suspension.

Holbeach are aiming for a hat-trick of away league wins this season.

Sleaford have not picked up a point in three games and they were knocked out of the FA Vase at Bourne Town last weekend.
