Holbeach United boss happy with response to slow start

Danny Hussey was pleased with Holbeach United's second-half display as a sixth successive home win sent them into third place.

Captain Spencer Tinkler got the first-half opener and man of the match Liam Adams added another assist as Jonny Lockie made it 2-0.

Adam Jackson's effort was deflected in and substitute Luke Avis completed the victory.

Hussey said: "In the first half, we didn't play to the same levels of the last few weeks.

"We didn't press them high enough and we didn't pass the ball quickly on a heavy pitch.

"Liam went down the right-hand side and Spencer made a late run to beat Dan Swan at the near post to put us 1-0 up.

"I had a moan at them at half-time because we are not a team who can coast through games.

"We got on the front foot from the start of the second half and created numerous chances.

"Liam created the second goal again down the right and Jonny came in at the far post.

"We've given the third goal to Adam, even though the defender helped the ball over the line.

"Will Bird could have got a hat-trick in 25 minutes after coming on and Luke scored a great goal from an acute angle.

"We also brought on Jake Gadsden for the final 10 to 15 minutes so it was nice to see a youngster coming from the reserves.

"There was a good atmosphere around the club as our sponsors came down for the day."
