FOOTBALL: Deeping, Holbeach and Pinchbeck face new opposition




The United Counties League Premier Division has five new Leicestershire teams for the forthcoming season.

The new opposition for our sides Pinchbeck United, Deeping Rangers and Holbeach United are Anstey Nomads, Loughborough University, Lutterworth Town, Quorn and Shepshed Dynamo.

Pinchbeck report back for the first pre-season training session tonight and have finalised their friendlies schedule.

The Knights start with two home fixtures, against Bourne Town on Friday, July 5, and Horncastle Town on Friday, July 12. Both are 7pm kick-offs.

Next up is a trip to Skegness Town, who have former Spalding United boss Chris Rawlinson in the management team. That one is on Tuesday, July 16, at 7.45pm.

The final warm-up match is at Parson Drove on Friday, July 19 (7.45pm).

Meanwhile, Long Sutton Athletic reported a “fantastic turnout” for their first get-together ahead of the ChromaSport Peterborough and District League season.

Long Sutton Veterans dished out their awards for last season. They went to Scott Pemberton (top goalscorer), Andy Fowler (clubman of the year), Sean Gedney (players’ player) and Ian Billinghurst (manager’s player). Trophies were presented by kit sponsor Paul Slator, of Ace Travel.
