Sporty youngsters attended the Spalding Gymanstics Academy summer camp last week.
Children who attended the three-hour beginners’ session on Tuesday and Wednesday, for an introduction to the fantastic facility, played games such as hide and seek, build a den, musical hoops and shark attack.
For the game “captain’s coming”, the coaches joined in with the children.
Then the children were introduced to the equipment, such as the vault, the bar, the beam, the trampette, the rings and the circuits.
The sessions are run under the watchful eye of head coach Alec Harding and club coach Carole Harding, who have built up to the facility over 35 years.
Head coach Alec harding said: “It’s been fantastic and far more beginners came than I expected.
“We try to run it every school holiday, so there is the summer camp that’s going on for a month, and there is one we do at Easter and half terms too.”
The beginners sessions have been attended by 65-75 children each morning and will continue to be run until August 19. There are also afternoon sessions aimed for the more advanced gymnasts who wish to improve their skills, from 1pm to 4pm .
