Online entries are now open for the annual Langtoft 10k road race and 3k fun run with organisers hoping to attract a record field for the second year running.
After last year’s event saw record numbers of runners despite heavy rain, the race committee has been successful in securing a higher race limit for their 27th event on Sunday, May 1.
The 3k fun run, including a primary schools challenge, starts at 10.15am, with the 10k – which is run via Langtoft, Greatford and Barholm – starting an hour later.
As well as plenty for people to see on the roads, there will also be an attraction in the sky as organisers are privileged to have secured a Spitfire flypast for the event – weather permitting.
The event, which raises hundreds of pounds for local charities and good causes every year, relies on the goodwill of volunteers and sponsors to make it successful.
Langtoft’s pub, the Waggon and Horses, has donated £300 towards the event’s costs but organisers are appealing for anyone else who would like to sponsor the event in any way to get in touch.
This is a true community event that supports good causes in the community, so it’s a great opportunity for businesses, or even individuals, to help support their local area.Sue Archer of the organising committee
Sue Archer, of the organising committee, said: “No donations are considered too big or small, so if anyone would like to become involved in this way, please do get in touch.
