Nene Valley Harriers athletes competed at the British Universities and Colleges event.

Ben Jones, representing Sussex Uni, ran a quality heat (57.45) in the 400m to qualify as a fastest loser for the semi finals. Here he ran 56.54, finishing sixth.

Georgie Ivens, representing the University of Central Lancashire, ran a high quality 57.85 for third place in her heat and finished third in her semi, smashing her PB and club record by almost 0.7 seconds with a time 56.75.

This should set her up for a challenge at the England Athletics Under 23 Championships next month.

Daz Holding, representing Southampton Solent, was third in his 400m heat in a time of 51.70 and second in the 200m to finish second in his heat in 22.95.

New club athlete Devon Spencer, representing Leeds, competed in the qualifying rounds of the long jump with 4.34m and the triple jump with 9.99m.

On the final day Sam Lawrence was part of the Loughborough University 4x100m relay team which picked up the gold medal in a time of 41.15.

Sister Kelly Lawrence, representing Nottingham Trent, putt the shot 7.55m but failed to qualify for the final stages.

This was very unfortunate for Kelly as she wanted to compete in the hammer and discus but a mix up meant that the university only entered her for her less favoured shot putt.
