Two red cards for Clarets succumb them to first loss in five
Deeping Rangers lost 5-0 away to Lutterworth Town, in a game that also included two red cards for the Clarets.
Despite being on a four match winning run, that form seemed to desert them as they were swept aside by high-flying Lutterworth.
A red card for both Dan Flack and coach, Peter Costello, summed up a torrid afternoon for the Clarets, especially as they were missing a lot of their key players during the game as well.
Joint-manager, Lee Clarke, said: “It was a very disappointing result after the standards that we have been setting ourselves.
“We missed some really good chances, and at 0-0 it was in the balance.
“But they got two quick goals, and then the red card for Flacky (Dan Flack) just left it an almost near-impossible task for us to complete.
“Then we conceded a few more goals, but we then started to really struggle.
“Lutterwoth have got a lot of quality, but the run up to the game, and the players we had out, made it really difficult for us to get something out the game.
“Then, we had another red, not for any of our players but this time for Cozzy (Peter Costello) and there’s no defending it, but it was more just frustration from how we were playing I would say say.
“Add into the mix of all the players we were missing, and also we missed our physio, it was a bad day for all of us, but one we’re just looking to draw a line under and move on from.
“Best thing for is that we haven’t got a midweek game now, and we can have a bit of a rest.
“Unfortunately for us we probably won’t have T’ai (Williams) or Mason (Rhiney), but I’m hoping we will have Jake Sansby, Charlie Coulson and Dibsy (Dave Burton Jones) and that will definitely be a boost for all of us.”
Rangers entertain Northampton ON Chenecks on saturday and Clarke said: “Last time we lost 5-0 was against Rugby and we went and won four on the spin straight after that.
“So I’d say if we can do that again we’ll be just fine.”
