CYCLING: Top spot for Josh
Spalding’s regular Tuesday night 10-mile time trial took place in much better weather conditions than previous ones.
As always seems the case, there was a brisk breeze – but once out on the course it was better than expected.
On the night, Josh Wallis continued his good form by taking first spot in 22.37.
Tim Lister, who is starting to provide some serious competition, came second in 22.47 while Neil Palmer took third place in 23.04.
Other times were Kieran Buffham (23.44), Adam Ellis (24.29), Mark Hills (26.38), Tom Wright (26.44), James Bramma (27.14), Rob McAlinden (30.15), Gary Hignett (33.19), Sophie Wright (33.26), Brian Johnson (33.30), Ben Cleghorn (36.57), Barry Drew (DNF).
Lister took part in the Fenland Clarion 10TT on an undulating course at Helpston, taking first spot in 22:17.
This was followed up with another good time of 21:49 in the Sleaford Wheelers 10 which secured runners-up spot only 24 seconds behind the winner.
The social riders took a scenic trip via Dowsby Fen, Billingborough, Folkingham and Newton to Sylvia’s Cafe at Heckington and back by
Sempringham Fen – a round trip of 54 miles.
The Saturday riders took a gentle route out to Thorney.
