CRICKET: Howzat for umpiring course?

Have your say

ASPIRING cricket umpires are being offered the chance to take their first steps into the role this winter.

Stamford Umpires Association is running a training course at Market Deeping Cricket Club on Sunday, November 6.

The full course will be held on three Sundays, from 10am-4pm on November 6, 13 and 20.

It will cover those laws of the game needed to enable the participant to start umpiring in local cricket, at junior or lower league levels, and will be followed by an opportunity to take the ECB Level One examination.

This is a qualification sufficient to enable the candidate to umpire in league matches, where payment of £25 and above is available.

The course fee is £50, which covers all course materials, as well as lunch on the three days.

The fee covers the examination and membership of the Association of Cricket Officials, which includes insurance while umpiring.

For further details please contact Derek Patience on 01780 753066, Ted Glossop on 01778 344266 or Henry Roberts on 01778 344480.

The course is limited to 15 members, so interested parties are urged to book early to avoid disappointment.
