THE scheduled South Lincs and Border League Division One opener between Market Deeping 2nd and Spalding 1st was washed out on Saturday.

All eyes were on the Outgang Road clash, which was just one of two games pencilled in over the weekend ahead of Saturday’s big kick-off.

Top of the bill is the start of the Readers Lincolnshire ECB Premier League, with Bourne 1st and Market Deeping 1st both bidding for glory.

Bourne, bidding to win back the title they lost to Bracebridge Heath, begin life without record-smashing wicket machine Fahad Masood, who took 86 scalps last season.

They have brought in South African all-rounder Robbie Gow-Kleinschmidt though – and have strengthened their batting line-up by signing former Skegness wicketkeeper Carl Wilson.

Deeping have addressed their need for wickets by signing Australian off-spinner Tom Atallah.

The 21-year-old is a welcome addition at Outgang Road, with Deeping having lost paceman Tom Andrews and slow left-arm bowler Nick Cowley.

Bourne begin at Skegness, while Deeping host Woodhall Spa.
