Boston 3rd (177-8) lost t0 Pinchbeck (178-6) by 4 wickets

South Lincs Border League Division Three

Pinchbeck claimed a morale-boosting victory, with Richard Riley’s unbeaten 70 leading them home.

Boston batted first and made modest progress as Pinchbeck worked hard in the field, with two wickets apiece from Harry Waine and Steve Robinson.

But Boston opener Karl Pick recorded an excellent knock of 56 before James Cole trapped him LBW to reduce the score to 98 for 5.

Pinchbeck’s momentum was thwarted by an excellent stand between Walsh (38) and Tetther (15), who boosted Boston’s total to 177 for 8.

Pinchbeck’s reply suffered the early loss of Danny Jackson and having settled nicely Sam Smith (22) soon holed out to point.

Two further wickets left the game in the balance at 80 for 4 but Riley remained unflustered to hold the innings together with a typically measured half century.

An excellent stand of 54 with Waine (23) pushed them on before Andrew Beeston (19 not out) provided solid support to clinch victory with four overs to spare.
