Bourne and Market Deeping have pulled clear at the top of the Lincolnshire ECB Premier League.

The derby-day action saw unbeaten leaders Bourne strengthen pole position with a comfortable 85-run win at home to Billingborough.

Meanwhile, Market Deeping collected a winning draw against Spalding at Outgang Road.

Bourne lead their arch rivals by 16 points and both were pleased to see the match involving their other title rivals, Bracebridge Heath, washed out.

Bourne reached 234-3 in their 45 overs with Conrad Louth (87no) and Ben Stroud (79) adding 132 for the second wicket.

Navel Grazette returned from a long absence to make 35 in a third-wicket stand of 70 with Louth.

Dogged defence was Billingborough’s response and they came within two-and-a-half overs of surviving.

Opening bowlers Colin Cheer and Grazette each claimed three wickets as the home side were dismissed for 149.

Chris Jones has been in prime form for Deeping in recent weeks and he followed back-to-back half-centuries with an innings of 117 against Spalding.

Jones is close to 500 runs for the campaign from just nine knocks and his efforts helped Deeping to a formidable 271-7 .

It didn’t look enough while Thivanka Rajaratne was at the crease, though.

He made 89 as Spalding stormed to 149-1 in 29 overs, but a brilliant boundary catch by Jamie Morgan ended an entertaining innings and the visitors then fell away alarmingly, losing another seven wickets in total for just 50 runs.

The last pair batted out the final 14 balls to secure a draw at 199-9 which was hard luck on Lee Peacock who bagged 5-45 from 17 overs.
