CRICKET: Spalding beat wet weather
More than half of Saturday’s games were abandoned in the South Lincolnshire & Border League – but Spalding finished before the rain arrived to gain 20 points.
They won by nine wickets at Welby Cavaliers as Premier Division leaders Skegness beat Billingborough.
The only other game completed in the top flight saw Bourne 2nd pass Stamford Town’s total for the loss of six wickets.
Long Sutton have yet to play a full game this season after being rained off against Boston 2nd.
Baston beat Skegness 2nd to go third in Division One while Market Deeping 2nd are second despite an abandoned match.
Claypole made 245-9 as Nick Andrews took a career-best 8-46 for Deeping who had reached 89-2 when rain stopped play.
James Wright made 126 out of 263 for Long Sutton 2nd in Division Two.
Ed Munson took 6-49 as Billingborough 2nd were bowled out for 122.
Carl Andrews hit 103 for Spalding 3rd against Grantham 3rd but once again the weather intervened.
Graves Park reached the next round of the League Cup by beating Pinchbeck thanks to 137 from Chris King and will now meet Long Sutton 2nd.
