CRICKET: Spalding stay top of South Lincs and Border League after home victory

Spalding stay top of the South Lincs and Border League premier division after a decisive victory at home to struggling Sleaford on Saturday.

Batting first, Jon Manton and Joseph Broomfield put on 49 for Spalding's first wicket until Broomfield was out LBW for 16.

Manton went on to make 74 before being caught, with Josh Newton making 20, Jonathan Miles 30 and Ethan Lawrence 11 as Spalding registered 181-5 off their 45 overs.

In reply, Sleaford were never in the game, falling from 23-0 to 41-4 as the Spalding bowlers ripped through their batsmen.

William Naylor took 3-22 off 7 overs, Julian Wilson 2-8, Jonathan Miles 2-26, Brandon Andrews 1-18 and Jonathan Garner 1-22 as Sleaford were all out for 101 off 29.2 overs.

Bourne 2nds stay second after a 53 run victory over Boston 2nds. Bourne batted first and were in trouble when they lost four early wickets. However,Daniel Whadcock (59),Xanti Xipu (45no), Ben Woodward (26) and Jeffrey Gunthorp (23no) saw them post a respectable 216-6 off their 45 overs.

In reply, Boston also lost early wickets - but they never recovered as they stuttered to 163-8 off their allotted overs, Adam Hilless taking 3-55 off 12,Xanti Xipu 2-39, Ben Stroud 2-40 and Ben Woodward 1-7.

Long Sutton are fifth in the table after thrashing Grantham 2nds. Batting first, Sutton were 222 all out off their 45 overs and then bowled out the visitors for a meagre 69 from 19.5 overs.

Billingborough are second bottom after being beaten by four wickets at home to Woodhall Spa 2nds. The home side batted first and were 97 all out, the visitors knocking off the required runs with four wickets to spare.

Market Deeping 2nds remain top of division one after a comfortable victory at seventh place Pinchbeck. Deeping batted first and scored 231-6 off their 45 overs, Ryan Bainborough getting 42, Richard Witt 48, Paul Bird 32, Joe Malton 17, Ross Lowndes 19, Alex Green 18no and Karl Green 28no.

For Pinchbeck, Andrew Beeston took 2-49 off eight overs, Jamie Frost 1-47, Mike Knight 1-48 and Stephen Coles 1-60.

In reply, Pinchbeck were 85 all out in 29.3 overs, resistance being put up by Mike Knight (31) and Jamie Frost (31). Joe Pearson was the pick of the bowlers with 4-41 off nine, Alex Green didn't concede a single run as he recorded figures off one 1-0 off five overs, Karl Green took 1-3 and Dan Jarman 1-26.

Spalding 2nds are fourth after winning at Baston. Batting first, the home side registered 196-7, with Andy Keen scoring 25, Ben Hudson 32, Adrian Joubert 50 and Liam Davies 53. Peter Cook took 2-25, Jamie Juckes 2-39 and Harry DeCamps 2-50.

In reply, Spalding won with seven overs to spare and just four wickets down, Chris Dringhitting 92, Mohammad Alam 27, Ollie Dring 16, Jay White 14no and Josh Lawrence 27no.

Mid-table Moulton Harrox did not play this weekend.

In division two, Spalding 3rds were defeated at Sleaford 3rds. The home side scored 205-6 off 45 overs and the visitors were all out for 131 off 43.3 overs.

Billingborough 2nds lost at Uffington. Batting first, Billingborough were 114 all out and the home side knocked off the required runs with five wickets to spare.
