CRICKET: Pinchbeck ease to victory over strugglers

Pinchbeck pulled away from the South Lincs & Border League division one relegation places with a home win against struggling Claypole on Saturday.

The win was Pinchbeck's third of the season and was inspired by a great Mike Knight bowling performance.

Pinchbeck won the toss and put the visitors in to bat at Spalding Grammar School. They made a decent start, putting on 37 runs for the first wicket but were soon in trouble as the next four wickets fell for just 20 runs.

They never recovered from this collapse and were all out for 88 in 26.4 overs, Knight taking 5-29 off 12 overs, Lee Eyett 3-21 and Stephen Coles 2-37.

In reply, the visitors looked like they might make a game of it when they had the home side at 34-2 but Eyett's 44 steered Pinchbeck towards victory, Mark Ramsden scoring 14 and Jamie Frost an undefeated 10 as they knocked off the winning runs with six wickets and 29 overs to spare.
