CRICKET: Leaders back to best




Spalding found the right response to their first defeat this season by staying on top of the Premier Division.

The defending champions enjoyed a trip to the seaside on Saturday with a nine-wicket win at Skegness.

Skipper Jonathan Miles took four wickets then watched openers Jon Manton (77no) and Warren Nel (65) set up a comfortable victory.

Second-placed Bourne 2nd also bounced back from last weekend’s loss as they beat Grantham 2nd by 108 runs.

Captain Jon Howard hit a half-century and Tom Bentley bagged six wickets.

Richard Wells was unbeaten on 68 during Billingborough’s 73-run win over Graves Park.

The bottom-of-the-table side claimed their first victory of the summer.

Long Sutton were dismissed for 80 in their defeat at Freiston L&L.

Division One leaders Market Deeping 2nd went past 300 - featuring a century for Ryan Bainborough - in a big win over Welby Cavaliers.

Moulton Harrox bowled out bottom-of-the-table Baston for 31 after setting a huge target thanks mainly to Jack Barnett (87) and Jake Morton (57).

Spalding 2nd lost by four wickets to Heckington.

In Division Two, there were defeats for Long Sutton 2nd and Billingborough 2nd.
