CRICKET: Girl power on derby day
Division Two has a growing number of female players - five of whom took to the field in Saturday's match between Long Sutton 2nd and Spalding 3rd, taking a total of 11 wickets between them.
Spalding were all out for 156 - Amelia Gardner hitting 22 while Emmy Gittins took 4-39 off 12 overs for Long Sutton and Beth Milnes claimed 2-9 off four.
Gardner then took 5-16 as Long Sutton were all out for 48 - Jack Sawyer taking the other five for only three runs.
In the Premier Division, Spalding won a high-scoring game against Sleaford 2nd to stay top by 10 points with a game in hand.
Warren Nel hit an unbeaten 161, putting on 102 in an opening stand with Jon Manton, and Jonathan Miles made 55 as Spalding ended 296-3.
Connor Hebron then made 77 for Sleaford who finished 206-9 and occupy third place in the table.
Second-placed Woodhall Spa 2nd had an easier victory - overtaking Stamford’s total of 114 to win by eight wickets - while Skegness, who are fourth, beat Long Sutton by seven wickets.
Division One leaders Belton Park were without a game but Graves Park kept up their challenge, beating Timberland by four wickets.
Adrian Shaw hit 55 of Timberland’s total of 127 while Martin Hodgson took 5-18 for Graves Park.
Market Deeping 2nd claimed a nine-wicket victory over Claypole to stay fourth.
Pinchbeck are unbeaten in Division Two and retained this record with victory over Boston 3rd.
Nick Crook hit 62 of Pinchbeck’s 168 with Shaun Moore taking five wickets for Boston who were bowled out for 134.
Belton Park 2nd played two games over the weekend, both resulting in victories, firstly over Grantham 3rd by six wickets then against Sleaford 3rd.
