Spalding United boost their ranks

Spalding United have made two key appointments to strengthen their coaching ranks.

They have recruited Bruno Porfirio as their new first team coach while Neal Lattimore has joined the Tulips as their fitness coach.

The duo will work with first team boss Gabriel Zakuani who was thrilled to have secured their services.

“I feel he is the right man to be part of the team that will help me push the club in the right direction.

“Neal is someone I have known for a long time and I felt at my fittest when he was at Peterborough United so I know what he is bringing to the table.

“His attention to detail is second to none and it’s another excellent addition to the management team.”

Porfirio started coaching in Portugal 14 years ago and went on to gain experience with academies and also in management.

He is currently coaching at Peterborough United and has a master’s degree in Sports Science. He is also completing his UEFA A License and is relishing the challenge ahead with the Tulips.

Porfirio said: “This is an excellent opportunity for myself, to work with Gaby and the rest of the staff in a very exciting and ambitious project.

“I am honoured to be part of this journey and to help take the club to the next level.”

Lattimore has previously worked with players at Peterborough United in his role as a fitness coach.

He is currently head coach at the Active Performance gym in King’s Cliffe and is eagerly awaiting getting his chance to work with the Spalding
squad.

Lattimore said: “I am very happy to be back working with Gabs.

“I look forward to working with him and the squad to make sure we are exactly where we need to be when the season starts.

“The opportunity at Spalding excites me and I can’t wait to get started.”

The Tulips are also looking to recruit a kit manager for next season.

The role requires being able to travel with the management team and squad to all pre-season activities and matches throughout the campaign.

No previous experience is necessary but the individual needs to be organised, committed, enthusiastic, passionate and have the ability to work as part of a team.

All applications must be emailed to commercial@spaldingunited.net

n The decision to curtail the 2020/21 league campaign at steps three to six of the non-league pyramid was ratified by the FA Council following a meeting late last week.

It means no further league matches will take place this season after the curtailment of the Northern Premier and United Counties league campaigns involving Spalding, Holbeach, Pinchbeck, Deeping and Bourne.
