Businesses across South Holland can back the athletics stars of the future by sponsoring a series of coaching courses run by Geoff Capes.

Lincolnshire Throws Academy is to hold more sessions at The Holbeach Hub, Boston Road South, Holbeach, from October.

There will also be three indoor shot put competitions, at the same site next year.

Capes said: "Lincolnshire Throws Academy has been going for over nine years and it's very successful (read more here).

"We want to continue our expansion and the academy is still looking for sponsors within the Lincolnshire area to support us.

"There are a lot of companies out there in Lincolnshire where there's so much talent as well.

"So this is an opportunity for people of all abilities to come under coaches where they can learn the skills of throwing in a progressive way."

Capes runs the academy with his son Lewis and a number of promising athletes are trained there, including Capes' shot putting grandson Donovan Capes.

Stuart Storey, Geoff Capes' former coach and an ex-Holbeach Athletics Club member, said: "Geoff has done his time and served a lot of people, giving an awful lot back to athletics and the community.

"I can't think of anyone who has given more to young kids looking to progress in athletics and Geoff is now looking for sponsorship to expand his throws academy."
