Dad and coach Lewis Capes enthused: “It was a new experience for Donovan and Lewis to throw at 8pm in the evening as they had never done it before.

“Donovan still had plenty left in the tank which is good for things to come as his timing is a bit better now.

“He just needs to correct a few issues but I am really happy with his performance as he brought more aggression into his throw.

“Lawson smashed the 13m barrier which is a rare feat for an Under 13 thrower to do.

“He really went for it and caught the sweet spot off his fingers which is hard to do. It was a great night of athletics and we finally saw some sun.”
