Spalding Indoor Bowls Club’s under-25 team have qualified for the national semi-finals.

They beat Scarborough with one rink played at home and one away.

The home rink of Ruby Hill, Chelsea Tomlin and Jordan Philpott were involved in a close affair with scores level at 4-4 after five ends.

After 10 ends, they were 7-6 up before picking up seven shots and conceding three in the next five to lead 14-9 with three to play. After dropping four shots in the closing ends, they claimed victory at 14-13.

The away rink of Lauren Finbow, Rhys Hill and Ben Wilson had an equally tough rink to face having travelled to Scarborough.

However, having dropped two shots over the first two ends, they never looked in trouble – leading 9-2 after five ends and continuing their good form throughout.

They convincingly pulled away to record a 25-13 win, giving Spalding an overall victory of 39 shots to 26.

The national semi-finals will be played at Nottingham on April 7. Spalding meet Swale for a place in the final played on the same day.
