Spalding Traditional Karate Academy stages popular tournament
Spalding’s Traditional Karate Academy staged the biggest-ever Young Talent Tournament with more than 100 competitors taking part.
It was the seventh edition of the popular event that is organised together with the Traditional Karate Federation of Great Britain.
The competition is dedicated to selecting the most promising karate practitioners from among all the children aged from five to 12 years.
Hosts Spalding and the Lincoln Academies put up as many as 40 competitors and won a total of 10 medals to highlight the current rise in interest of the sport.
Sensei Andrei Skarzinskij commented: “It appears that at the moment karate is rapidly gaining in popularity with whole families signing up for training.
“It is a great solution for the parents as far as supporting their efforts in upbringing their offspring.
“Together we have the potential to create young people characterised by strong mindset and personality, with focus and commitment in their actions and higher achievement rates in many vital aspects of everyday life compared to their non-karate peers.
“It is also a lot of fun as members participate in many events internationally like seminars, camps, European and World Championships.”
