Moulton Harrox face ICA Sports in their next match of the Peterborough Senior Cup campaign
Assistant boss Bobby Patterson will not let his Moulton Harrox players get carried away with their fine start to the Peterborough League’s new cup campaign.
Harrox make the trip to Peterborough on Saturday to face ICA Sports in their next group clash after an excellent 3-1 victory over perennial title challengers Netherton United last weekend.
Patterson said: “We have got a tough game at ICA and we want to get another positive result.
“It’s down to me and Kev Nottingham now to make sure that it’s not a case of after the Lord Mayor’s show.
“It is only the first game and we have won nothing yet. You don’t win anything just by winning your first group game.”
Harrox have four remaining matches in their group campaign and Patterson has set his sights on securing progress as Moulton target bringing more silverware to Broad Lane.
However, all their remaining matches in the competition will be played away from home due to their ground-sharing agreeing with the village cricket club.
Patterson said: “We have now got to make sure we progress in the competition and, if we can do it early, then we can give a few of the squad members a game as well.
“They have been training hard and want to play matches and we will also get some friendly games in to keep everyone happy.
“We want to enjoy being back together and it was great to be back playing again on Saturday.
“We have had a good start and we now want to go again because we are in it to win it.
“All being well this cup won’t ever happen again as we will be back to normal so we want to be the only ones to win it.
“We have always known the situation about playing the rest of the games away from home.
“The lads knew that straight away and they just want to be playing football.
“We are fine with the situation. We’re happy to go wherever and put a performance in.”
Saturday's match at Ringwood in Bretton will kick-off at 12.30pm.
