A PERSONAL best time from Charlotte Taylor was enough to secure bronze at the Aviva English Schools Championships over the weekend.
The Spalding High School ace clocked 9.53.97mins in the senior girls’ 3000m amid scorching conditions at Gateshead.
Surrey’s Emelia Gorecka roared clear from the gun to take an emphatic win, leaving Taylor and Cheshire’s Megan Huxley to battle it out for silver.
Huxley eventually took second, but the Nene Valley Harrier took bronze by more than seven seconds in what is her first year as an Under-20.
Taylor said: “I knew I had an outside chance of a medal but it’s fantastic to have got bronze. I had a couple of glances to check no-one was catching me in the closing stages but thankfully I had a good gap.”
