ATHLETICS: Donovan Capes sets another record

Donovan Capes set a new East Anglian League record in the under 15s boys shot put on Sunday.

The East Anglian league meeting that was held at King’s Lynn and the Bourne Academy student threw 15.09m , breaking another Lincs Throws Academy athlete Martin Tinkler’s record of 14.64m, set 14 years ago.

Dad and coach Lewis Capes said: “It is great to see Lincs Throws Academy throwers doing so well this season in the junior age groups.”

Capes is the first U15 thrower in the country to achieve 15 metres this season, ranking him number one in the UK.

The prodigy now focuses his mind on the English Schools Championships on July 11 and 12 in Birmingham, as he looks to achieve a podium place.
