ATHLETICS: Bush (19) smashes decathlon landmark

NENE Valley Harrier David Bush finally cracked the 5,000 points barrier in the decathlon last weekend.

The Spalding 19-year-old was in the England Athletics Senior Men’s Championships.

His effort included personal best performances in three events and his best javelin throw for two years.

He finished third for the bronze medal in the Northern Championships, 11th in England and 6th Under-23 athlete.

His results: 100m, 12.21secs; long jump, 5.63m; shot put 9.77m (pb); high jump 1.56m; 400m, 52.18secs; 110m hurdles 18.34 (pb); discus 27.83m; pole vault 2.30m (cleared 2.40m but knocked bar off with his pole); javelin 40.97m; 1,500m 4.33mins (pb).
