ANGLING: Mat's the man at latest Holbeach match
Twenty four anglers took part in Holbeach and District Angling Club’s latest club match on Sunday.
The event was held at Main Road Bridge, with the pegs split - half on Holland Lodge side and half on Sharps Bridge.
Mat Barker took first place with a good mixed net of rudd roach and skimmers for a weight of 7lb 2oz from peg 18.
In second place was Jason Thrower, from peg 23, who also had a mixed net of silver fish for 5lb 6oz.
Robert Newton claimed third place. He fished pinkie to get a nice mixed net of silver fish from peg 20 for a weight of 5lb 4oz.
It has been good to see many new faces coming to join the club matches and the club hopes even more will come along this weekend, with the match taking place at Cement Bridge, with the draw at 7.30am.
The river has also been fishing really well for pleasure anglers, with lots of reports coming in of tench carp and bream and some nice nets of silvers.
Holbeach Angling Club has a Facebook page for anyone who wishes to follow the club’s activities.
