VOLUNTEERS are needed to help get a “vital” service for young people in Sutton Bridge up and running once again.
It is hoped that a youth club will soon be available at least one night a week in the village’s Curlew Centre, but more helpers will be needed to ensure sessions will be able to run.
South Holland’s youth and community development worker Sam Newton is inviting anyone interested in helping to a meeting at the Curlew Centre on Wednesday at 6.30pm.
The project would be run by the community, with the support of the county’s youth workers.
Sam said: “We have the basics of a management committee but we need more volunteers. We’re also looking for volunteers for running the sessions as well.
“We looking for anyone interested in volunteering their time, even if it’s just for a couple of hours a week or month, to give the young people something to do.”
County and district councillor Chris Brewis said the service would be “absolutely vital” to Sutton Bridge.
“An awful lot of people say young people are a nuisance but there is nowhere for them to go,” he said. “If we had this club they would look forward to these nights.
“It would do wonders for the village.”
