Have your say

I feel I had to write to you about the story in the Spalding Guardian on September 24, headed ‘Holbeach hub shows what it has to offer’.

The article reported that the building has housed the youth club for 70 years.

The building may have been there for 70 years, but it was the Holbeach Junior School which I attended until I went to the George Farmer School.

The youth club was in the hall that was on Park Road, It opened at 7pm until 10.30pm, Monday to Wednesday.

Then on a Saturday night, it was the ‘in place’ for the youth club disco, from 7pm until 11pm. This was the highlight of our week back then as teenagers.

The hall was also used by Holbeach Junior School for school plays because it had an enormous stage.

I was also part of a play on that stage when I first moved from the infants school on the High Street to the junior school in Boston Road.

Although your facts were slightly astray, thanks for the memories it brought to mind.
