THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: The Lord awaits at flower festivals

Have your say

We are an Easter people and when people come to us as they will and ask: “We want to know about Jesus,” you will have the words to speak. There are as many ways of coming to the Lord as there are human beings.

We find this during our Long Sutton Flower Festival. We discover that flower festivals draw in many from the local and wider community. St Mary’s festival theme this year is the New Elizabethans, which is bringing to life the gifts and skills of many diverse people who have contributed to our society – Lord Seb Coe, the Reverend Awdry, Patrick Moore, Darcy Bussell and Lord Alfred Denning are just a few. The beauty of the flower arrangements will lead the thousands who visit our churches in this area to draw nearer to the wonderful creation of God and they will understand that the Risen Jesus Christ makes us an Easter people.

Do come and visit as many flower festivals as you can. The wonder of the Lord will be there waiting for you.
