‘My way’ is a song popularised by Frank Sinatra released June 14, 1969.

It tells the story of a man who was comfortable with his life and takes responsibility for how he dealt with all its challenges while maintaining a respectable degree of integrity. In the UK, the single achieved unmatched record, becoming the recording with the most weeks inside the Top 40, spending 75 weeks from April 1969 to September 1971.

It became popular because it expresses the sentiment of popular world view where independence and self-assertion are praiseworthy while dependence is shunned and frowned upon. What a contrast to Biblical world view in which God is the source and sustains the universe. All created things function according to God’s power. The smallest seed sprouts and grows because of His power. The sun rises and sets according to His orders. Much of what God does He does through His creation. We are dependent on God for everything, especially for our salvation, for by His grace He made us spiritually alive in Christ through our baptism and forgave us all our sins! “O LORD, You preserve both man and beast. How priceless is your unfailing love”! Psalm 36:6-7.
